On Sunday I finally made my way over to Mega, the Japanese equivalent to a Target or Walmart. It's an enormous three-story shop that has basically everything you can think of, so I picked up some kitchen-y stuff, a few groceries, and a new set of headphones.
It's English name is Mega, but it's Japanese name is Do n Ki ho o te, or Don Quijote. I have no idea why.
The bottom level is a huuuuuge grocery store
Ba n bi (Bambi) and Da n bo (Dumbo)
FOUND SOME PEANUT BUTTER, HALLELU
Looked like a travel agency but mostly or entirely for Disney Tokyo
There was a big section of arcade games so the adults could dump off their kids and get some shopping done
A big bookstore took up a good portion of the third floor
The prize in this arcade game is a big ass Pringles can
They even have a dentist in Mega
It was a Mega Success!
Yesterday three of us finally went on the Tempozan Ferris Wheel near our apartment. It provided a great view of Osaka. I'm looking forward to going on again at night.
Hogwarts castle in the distance!
Kaigandori House
The Ferris wheel is at the Tempozan mall, where we also got lunch and hung out for a bit before work. We happened upon perhaps the greatest toy invention of all time: for 500 yen you can get your picture taken and printed onto a plastic little face, which you can insert into a plastic doll on a keychain. We all chose animals (we didn't get to choose which animal, but we were happy with our puppies and frog), but there were also little astronauts and robots and colored eggs as well.
So bizarre
So kawaii!!!!!!!!!!! We laughed our butts off at this thing. I love Japan.
Congratulations on your peanut butter, bro!
